The Prime Minister launched the PE, School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) strategy on 2 October 2002. It is being delivered by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) through eight programmes.

Over the next three years, from April 2003, the Government is investing 459 million to transform PE and school sport.
